D.A.V believes in the holistic development of our students. To enhance their spiritual and mental wellbeing, Vedic mantras are prescribed. Performing Agnihotra and chanting Vedic mantas are an integral part of the school curriculum. Therefore, Vedic mantras are taught from class I to V. Students from class VI to XII perform the havan every Saturday.
The inaugural havan was performed by classes X to XII at ITC Auditorium on 18th June, 2018 to mark the commencement of the New academic year. Shri Lalith Nangia, Convenor and Shri Yogesh Kalia, Financial Controller graced the occasion with their presence.
In the year 2019-2020, it was performed on all days of the week, by the students of classes IV to XII, enabling maximum participation.
In the year 2020-2021, it was performed on Saturdays by the Teaching and Non teaching staff by maintaining SOP. Students of classes X and XII performed havan on Saturdays in the month of March and April by maintaining SOP.
As a mark of honour and due respect, a special Havan was performed to commemorate the Birth day of our Late Secretary Shri. Jai Dev on 15th August at Arya Samaj, Gopalapuram. Our school choir Anjali rendered a mellifluous bhajan – “Om Hari Jeevan Hamara.” Prithiyanka. A of class IX. A delivered a speech on “Right is Might.”
On 7-8-22, smgp students participated in the satsang with devotion. Shivanjali prason and anugraha.A of class 8 presented a talk show on “the importance of prayer. ” Anjali choir rendered the Bhajan.
On 16-10-22, Thaarinishree of class 8 delivered a speech on ” Athithi Devo bhava”. Anjali choir students sang a Tamil and a Hindi bhajan mellifluously.
On 27-11-2022, “Compassion – The best gift of humans” – a talk show on the benefits of being a vegetarian was performed by the students of class 8. “Tere naam ka sumiran” bhajan in hindi was rendered by the Anjali choir with devotion.
The Gayatri Maha Yajna began on Jan 4, 2023 and culminated on Jan 8, 2023. Discourses and devotional songs were rendered by eminent scholars, Students from the D.A.V Group of Schools presented various programmes.

Gist- Ancient India is the cradle of many civilizations and ocean of knowledge.
The celebrations began on 01-01-2020 and culminated on 05-01-2020. Discourses and devotional songs were rendered by eminent scholars, Swami Vivekanand Ji and Bhajan Upadeshak Shri Ajay Arya Ji. Students from the D.A.V Group of Schools presented various programmes.
Shri Jaidev Memorial Inter School Vedic Mantra Chanting Competition started in the fond memory of our beloved Secretary, a great visionary, Shri Jaidev Ji, in the year 2016-2017 under the auspices of Arya Samaj and D.A.V. Group of Schools, Chennai.
Into its third year, in 2019, a separate Category for the Nursery students was introduced in the Competition. The categories now have expanded from Category A to D. (From Nursery to class IX). The top 10% of the participants were given Participation Certificates in each category. This was introduced, to encourage participation. In the Non-D.A.V Category, La Chatelaine Junior College, Chennai, won the overall trophy and in the D.A.V Group Category, the rolling trophy was won by D.A.V. Girls Senior Secondary School, Mogappair.
In 2020 the overall trophy for Non-D.A.V. Category was awarded to La Chatelaine Junior College and the rolling trophy in the D.A.V. Group was won by D.A.V. Boys Senior Secondary School, Mogappair.
Into its fifth year, in 2021, the Competition was held virtually due to the Pandemic. Students participated enthusiastically. In the Non-D.A.V Category, the overall trophy was bagged by La Chatelaine Junior College and the Rolling trophy for D.A.V Group of Schools was bagged by D.A.V. Boys Senior Secondary School, Mogappair.
DAV Girls Senior Secondary School has been hosting this event for the past four years.
12 students from our school rewarded Merit and Participation E-Certificates for the same.

It is a ritual of the school to begin every period with a silent prayer or the Gayatri Mantra recited by the students and the teacher.

‘International Yoga Day’ was observed on 21st June, 2019 in our school premises to create awareness about the significance and excellence of yoga. A Yoga Demonstration by the students of classes I to V and a motivational speech were the highlights of the programme.
Rishi Nirvan Divas was celebrated at D.A.V. Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Gopalapuram on 11th November, 2018. Our Revered Secretary Shrimathi. ParmilaGauhar, Director Shri. Vikas Arya and convener Shri. Lalit Nangia. graced the occasion. A ‘Talk Show’ on Swami Vivekananda was performed by the students of class IX. Our school choir rendered melodious bhajans on following the path of Vedas and about Swami Vivekananda.
