Every citizen of India should be able to think clearly, take quick and proper decisions, be alert and develop an attitude to be of help to others. Under proper training and guidance right from childhood, these qualities can be nurtured in children to make them mature and responsible citizens in life. Scouting and Guiding – which is an international movement – intends to inculcate in the young boys and girls a spirit of loyalty, patriotism and thoughtfulness for others. In India, Scouting and Guiding is immensely popular among the school students.

We at D.A.V. always aim on the overall development of the students rather than only academics.Every year the aspirant students from classes VI gets the opportunity to enroll in to the The priyadarshini Guide company.

In addition, we launched Velu Nachiyar Guide Company a new unit in Guiding in the last year to provide more opportunities for our students. More than 50 Guides explore themselves in the unit.
The Guides learn many skills like First Aid, mapping, constellation,knotting, lashing, tent pitching, sing song etc.
They enthusiastically participate in all the activities like Cooking without fire, anti-litter campaign, cleaning the campus, Gardening, Kim’s game, treasure hunt etc. The camping teaches them a lot about team spirit, discipline, daily routine, staying togetherness, sharing and caring.
9 Guides participated in the Thinking day drawing and colouring competition held on 13.2.2021. A. Nethra of VII E received Third prize and 6 Guides received merit participation certificates.
15 Guides participated in the World Thinking day celebration on 22.02.2021 by renewing the Guide promise.
G. Akshaya of VIII D participated in the Chennai Zonal level Competition (singing) conducted for Guides and Scouts on09-08-2020.
19 Guides and 2 unit leaders participated in the All Faith Prayer on 02-10-2020 conducted by The Bharat Scouts and Guides (Central Chennai district).
Our Guides received I prize in the Standard judging competition, conducted by the The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Central Chennai district on 15.02.2020.
9 Guides appeared and cleared The Rajyapuraskar award 2019.
49 Guides participated in The 45th Annual Guide and Scout camp conducted by The Bharathi Scout and Guide group from 24th to 26th January 2020 at Camp Tonakela, Avadi.
P.PRARTHANA of VIII B received the best adventurous award in the camp.
N. AMIRTHA VARSHINI - VII D, S. HARSHIDHA - VII C and TAMANAHA MEHRA – VIB received the best patrol award in the camp.
Guides conducted Anti-litter and Unity in Diversity campaign in October in the school campus. They also participated in various activities such as KIM’S game, Cooking without fire, etc.
As the motto is “BE PREPARED” our Guides are always in a state of readiness to bring out their hidden potentials and participate in the competitions, celebrations, webinars and camps.
